The Course
In this course, you will embark on a journey to learn how to be a peacemaker through the Path of a Peacemaker App Training. The course aims to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to resolve conflicts in a way that honors God and others and creates healthy, peace-filled relationships. You will explore the principles of biblical peacemaking, tools that will help you stretch your perspective, and strategies to connect with others and God to move forward, even if the conflict remains unsolved.
What you will learn
By completing this training, you will be able to effectively navigate challenging situations and have a godly impact on your personal and professional relationships. The course will empower you to cultivate empathy, understand God's approach to conflict, take personal responsibility, and connect with others in a spirit of humility. You will also learn how to apply the steps of the Path of a Peacemaker to practice peacemaking skills in real-life scenarios.
Curriculum
Your instructor
Laurie Stewart loves Jesus and loves people. She and her husband, John, have three grown daughters, one son-in-law, and a spunky German Shepherd. Laurie has experience as an attorney, mediator, professor, and event speaker. She earned her J.D. degree from Chapman University and her M.A. from the Talbot School of Theology. Laurie is licensed to practice law in California and in Iowa. Trained in conflict coaching, mediation, and arbitration, Laurie assists parties in negotiating to resolve disputes and stay out of court. In Iowa, she served as President for Iowa Association of Mediators and on the Council for the ADR section of the Iowa State Bar Association. Laurie had the privilege of serving on the Iowa Supreme Court Family Law Task Force ADR Work Group and speaking at the World Mediation Congress. As a law school professor, Laurie developed and taught classes in Foundational Skills for Christian ADR, among others. She is the CEO and President of Peacemaker Ministries and a Certified Peacemaker Fellow for those who want to resolve their disputes using biblical principles. Laurie enjoys teaching classes and seminars to schools, churches, and other groups in the U.S., Africa, Asia, Europe, and Australia. She formerly served on the board of Peacemaker Ministries, Iowa Association of Mediators, and the Advisory Council for ICC Peace. Laurie and her husband currently reside in Southern California. She describes herself as a former progressive feminist turned follower of Jesus Christ.
